ATS Aurora turbo upgrade for Cummins diesels [SEMA]
For owners of Dodge Rams who are looking for a big – and we mean big – upgrade over their B-series Cummins' stock Holset turbo unit, ATS brings this super-cool sequential turbo system to market. The first-stage turbo is the first to get the incoming air, while the second-stage turbo gets first dibs on the exhaust stream (this is because it has more work to do). The combination of two turbos in series provides the potential for serious boost levels – some diesel guys like to boost their engines into the triple-digit PSI levels – but of course this isn't cheap or simple. That just makes it all the more attractive to enthusiasts, right? You gotta love a turbo system that's adjustable down to 40 PSI. There's another picture after the jump.

Oh man... That looks like some crazy fun stuff right there. I seriously wonder if it will work with biodiesel, and fryer oil. I ask because I have noted that most of the really big diesel trucks around up here have two fuel tanks.. Its like they naturaly realized someone later on might want to run these things on vegtable oil like Vic Diesel had intended.
And on a not so serious note, what does it's blow off valve sound like. 40 PSI being relieved between gear changes has to be exciting.

well since a blow off valve is operated by closing a throttle and a pressure diffrence between turbo outlet and manafold, add to that fact a diesel has no throttle therefore a blowoff valve serves no purpose. what amazes me is 40PSI times an 18:1 compression ratio and increases it to a dynamic compression ratio to somewhere near 60:1....

Izzy, I phoned Cummins to ask about bio-fuels in thier engines. Thier response is that if it burns they can run it. "You can run a Cummins on perfume if you want" That said, the bio fuel has a lower BTU rating than normal desel and therefor you will have lower performance. This turbo system may make up the difference. Also, Dodge may not warrenty anything other than desel.

The Aurora Compounds would work fine with biodiesel. Depending on the brand of the bio it can have just as much power as regular diesel and actually can have faster turbo spool-up than #2 diesel. The ATS-Cummins Diesel Dragster runs on B100 Blue Sun Biodiesel-- http://www.cumminsracing.com

Cummins will only warranty the 5.9 using B5 or less. Thats %5 bio 95% #2 diesel.
